"Publisher to set up print plant, shock"

Intrigued to read about the expressions of interest in up-for-sale Cooper Clegg, along with speculation that at least one publisher could be an interested party too... While I agree with Martin Bloomfield's comment on my previous post on this topic in that most publishers doubtless have no desire to get involved in printing, it could turn out that ultimately they have no choice in the matter.

And in a timely piece of news just in, I saw today that Australian publisher ACP (the firm that bought Emap's Oz interests) has announced plans to set up its own in-house printing facility. While the print landscape is very different down under, with not much in the way of print supplier choice once you get to a certain scale, it is nonetheless an interesting and significant move for ACP to go it alone.
