    Still no joy! Any advice?

    Hello there,

My name is Samuel, im 23 years old and I've just recently graduated from University with a degree in printmaking. You may remember i posted a topic on here about 6 months ago stating that i was going to be seeking employment when i finished my course.

I have been applying for jobs for two months now, most of the time i dont hear a reply but when i do i hear that my lack of experience disqualifies me from being considered for the vacancy. As im sure you can imagine this is becoming massively frustrating for me.

I have now started cold calling businesses asking for work experience, but i still find myself being rejected. I was hoping that someone here could tell me if i am doing something wrong? Im a nice guy,i have some experience, I learn quickly and I get on with everyone, so it frustrates me when nobody wants me to work for them for free!

I reckon with a bit of training i would make a fantastic employee, so if theres anyone out there who might know somewhere i could try my luck in Manchester, then please let me know as Id love to be able to leave my current job as a trainee door to door salesman.

Thankyou in advance for any advice

    Sam

    Hi Josh,

Thankyou for your reply, I have been looking throughout Greater Manchester, as i dont yet have a driving licence I have been concentrating on the more well connected parts of Manchester ie Trafford park, Salford, Wythenshawe and most of the industrial areas that circumvent the city centre.

I have been searching high and low for advertised entry level/trainee/graduate positions and havent had any real luck, The recruitment agencies that im signed on with arent of much use really as understandably theyre looking to fill vacancies that require experienced personell and the doors that ive knocked on havent yielded any results so far. I have also tried to secure work experience placements for myself but to no avail, the most frequent reason being "Were not really cut out for that sort of thing here".

Im not sure where else to look, i check the websites daily and ring the large companies every few weeks or so but i guess there must be something that I am overlooking, I cant understand it, Im a friendly and well motivated guy, University graduate in printmaking, quick learner, willing to train while unpaid and willing to work for minimum wage!

    Very frustrating! :)
