    Xerox 700i

Hi I print wedding invitations and christmas cards from orders received via websites. It is basically a niche web to print business. I therefore spend most of the time running 300gsm board through my machine. I currently run a Xerox 242 and am thinking of upgrading to a Xerox700i. The two key benefits as I see then are the ability to run 300gsm board auto duplex and I think I can expect it to be a bit quicker on the heavier boards. I get this from the specs but I am wondering if anyone out there has a Xerox 700i and can give me any real world feedbacl about running 300gsm board auto duplex. is it any good registration wise? Thanks

    Hello Gary,

You might try asking Fidelity Solutions in Beds, featured in this Me & My Machine piece:

Also, via Twitter @SmartPrintTMM said: "We've several users with the 700. Happy to talk directly to the user, or provide reference sites."

    Contact details via www.smartprint-uk.com

    Hope this helps.

    Re: Xerox 700i

    Hi Gary,

We used to run a DC242 then upgraded to a 700. In my opinion the 700 does give (slightly) better registration but Xerox would not recommend 'duplexing' 300gsm board and you would have to 'over-rule' the RIP settings to actually back-up 300gsm

The registration is +/- 1mm so can be 2mm out on the sheet.

And, in my opinion of owning both machines, the DC242  will lay down the toner (ink) a million times better if printing onto any kind of embossed board from Linen to Hammer Finishes.

We print similar items to you, we no longer offer any embossed card as a substrate and with hindsight I wished I'd kept the DC242 for this reason (without a contract) but I would also recommend the 700 as a quicker and more solid machine.

Hope this helps your in your decision.
