    Litho Business Card Printing

As a print management company I have always struglled to supply Litho printed business cards at a cost effective price.  There is a new online company www.fullcolourcards.co.uk who are offering 500 cards for only £9.50 for you first set and £19 there after.

I have used them and the quality is superb.  They are printed using a Heidleburgh SM52 5 Colour plus coater and on a 400gm Silk Board.

I believe in good practice and would like to recomend anyone out there to give them a try.  You can't wash your machine down for this price.

Thanks for the Tip. Thats a great price. We offer 100 single sided cards for only £7.50 digitally printed. Quality is great, but I can only print on a 330gsm Board. See www.printbuyingdirect.co.uk for full details

     Hi,

That looks like a really good price.

We also print business cards & offer FREE lamination as standard. We can print 500 business cards, full colour both sides on 400gsm silk board, Matt/Gloss laminated for £55 & this includes delivery to one address and VAT.

These are printed on our Heidelberg SM52 4 colour with coater.

We also offer something called 'The Multiname Sevice'. Multiname is a unique service available online. Designed to offer substantial savings when ordering business cards for the same company. For example: You require 500 Business Cards for 4 members of staff. A traditional printer will charge 4 x 500 Business cards. With our system you would order the combined amount (2000) and benefit from the bulk saving. Multi-name is only available when purchasing cards for the same company, you can't order 2000 cards and submit 4 designs for different businesses. Multiname is only available for multiples of 500 per name minimum.

    You're having a laugh, right?

I don't know a single estimator / sales person who wouldn't gang these up and quote them as a single pass!  We even do it between companies on lots of products - if we can 'gang' jobs up in a given week, we do so and tell the customers concerned and share some of the savings with them. Creates customer loyalty and interest, see?

Systems are a wonderful thing for people who don't know or don't think. The sooner its realised systems don't make up for knowledge the better. Lee it has nothing to do with bulk, more to do with make ready and plates, have you ever worked out how many cards you can get out of A4.

A printer will not charge the same for one set against 4 ordered at the same time. Has your system removed your brain?

System does not = knowledge. You put in what you get out

I did wonder about this post too, 'cos I thought everybody tried to get the max out of a given sheet size. I have long held the view that the majority of printers offering 'cheap' business cards would load up several companies/names and go something like 40-up. You'd get the occasional wastage but if the job(s) are planned up correctly, this should be minimal. Bottom line - you don't need a special 'bespoke' system to achieve this.

The truth is out there - but I'm swimming in shark-infested waters

Have a look at other e-commerce printing websites and you let me know where someone can order multiples of business cards and get a discount like this. The maximum I've seen is a measly 10% discount. If someone uploads an order to a printing company on the internet for 4 business cards then that price usually gets quadrupled.

Everyone in print knows that we'll gang these up, but we'll pass the cost savings on to our customers (not everyone does)

Personally i don't know of any company that will Litho print 4 lots of 500 business cards, full colour on 400gsm silk, Matt laminated for £100. Oh and that includes delivery & VAT.

Come and join us in the 21st century!

"To my 3 mis-informed clueless friends...." nice sales pitch, seems to me the only ganging up here is being done by a bunch of desparate sales reps looking for some free advertising. Quack.

No thanks - the last cards I ordered online came back trimmed out of square, set-off on the back of every card and full of spelling mistakes. I'm going to stick with Vista Print in future - £1.48 for a box of business cards.

Hey Guys give Lee a break. Its clear hes not talking about production (in fact I believe he doesnt produce) he is simply discussing the ecommerce side of the order. And systems will make up for knowledge in that commodity product as its pointless to be talking to people for 20 pound orders.

Everyone knows how thin the Vista cards are and you can get from a UK company 500 cards(doublesided) delivered direct to your customer for 20 pounds sent in two days(www.48tradeprint.co.uk) with only 25% extra for next day. They are matt lam both sides and printed 400g silk on fine new HB presses, in fact this range will be print 100 up after an install of a new XL105 10 colour early next year.

The ability to order 2x500, 4x500 etc will be a new feature in the next version so Lee's will have lost that angle, sorry mate.

Look out for www.myprinting.co.uk using the www.tweak.com platform as this will offer end users a brillant free design too! real quality designs and a choice of over 500000, many leaflets with content already included. It will launch with  free cards and letterheads far supierior to any well known card printer. I think that platform and the new printing.com/flyerzone w2p will totally change the way print is bought online. Both companies will spend plently cash promoting the sites but the rewards will be large.

we will partner will resellers so anyone who wishes to get a head start should send me a private message. sorry for the company promotion but resellers and digi printers may offer a service but there are producers out there who should be offering the same service but direct and properly printed.

Those cards made easy designs look pants and once you get into reasonable quanities then both the cards and the other products are expensive!

I believe this type of w2p will suffer the most from the new generation of platforms about to hit the market....we will see I guess...?
