Please can you help, Print Apprentice!

I am looking to take on an apprentice, based in Camberley, working with digital Xerox equipment.

Where do I start in finding someone?

    Thank you in advance!

    Hi Neil,

Have you looked at the information on the government's Apprenticeships website? It has useful FAQs for employers. www.apprenticeships.org.uk

If you're in the BPIF they have info and support for members too. Visit www.britishprint.com.

Hope this helps, and all the best with finding a suitable recruit.

    Cheers

    Jo

Good luck Neil. I looked into this about a year ago as we run Xerox presses, and wanted to take on an apprentice. We ended up drawing a blank. Very few colleges run suitable courses for our line of work, and it was very much a case of sort it out yourself. We ended up giving up and just employing someone on proper wages and trained them ourselves. Even our local specialists in recruiting apprentices could not help us and gave up. Be interested to hear how your experiences go.

    Hello Neil

We have had great sucess with apprentices that we recruited from local colleges, students who had completed 6 months basic engineering training. We then give them day release and on the job structured training all with the assistance of the local college, has worked very well for us.
